Long and short parliament
In 1640 King Charles called short parliament to gain more money. But even with short parliament he still needed more money. He recalled parliament. It sat for 13 years, this is why its called long parliament. This parliament was not in support of the king so they came up with a compromise, handing over Strafford and Laud to be killed.
